For the last three years, I have been assembling intro videos for RIM and AT&T BlackBerry phones. These videos highlight the years achievements and hint at the possibilities for the coming year. I work with Maya for 3D assets, Photoshop for design mockups and asset creation and AfterEffects for animation.
Knorr teamed up with Walmart to create a series of 5 recipes using Knorr product. I motion tracked graphics to the footage and added shadows to make the text appear to live in 3D space. Intros, lower 3rds and other animations were created using Photoshop and AfterEffects.
All of the male and females members of the 2010 Canadian Olympic hockey team in Vancouver that were sponsored by Nike had videos produced for the web. I worked on editing the interviews of the hockey players, including Jerome Iginla, creating intros, outros, transitions and lower thirds.
5 videos for the Canadian Gov done! I worked with Tad from StoryStream in Toronto on them. My wife Rebecca drew the illustrations, I coloured and animated them, and my brother Ryan did the sound. done done done This was the biggest contract I ever completed.
The Chrysler Corporation relaunched there website in 2009 with video banners at the top of each page. I designed and created numerous videos for them based on the page theme. Each project was a fun experiment where I was able to take an ideas from concept to completion. The image shown is for their ‘community’ page, and incorporated watercolor along with traditional motion design elements.
This project was inspired by the ‘jibjad’ website. I was handed the audio tracks, and got to think up the imagery. Tons of fun. Characters were created with pieces from around the web in Photoshop, and then were rigged and animated in AfterEffects in 3D space.
5 short animations were created for Molson to play on a screen that is 93 feet long by 14 feet tall (6.63:1 ratio). I sketched he drawings and scanned them in – cleaned them up in Photoshop while dividing into layers, and animated in AfterEffects. My brother, www.ryanzak.com, completed the audio as always.
3D animations for Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep using Maya, and AfterEffects. I was contracted on and off for a few years mostly making commercials for specific cars to be played during the sponsored television show online at ABC.com
There is no shortage of demand for this style of Epipheo (epiphany + video) and Xplainer style video. I have been drawing like a kid again! Fun to make these using FCP to set timing, Photoshop to clean scanned images and AfterEffects to rig and animate
Worked with a team of editors to assemble 10 organization ideas for rubbermaid. I was responsible for the general design of the pieces, intro and outro animations and any lower thirds, titles or pop-up boxes. This project was a great exercise in staying organized when working with a team and tons of files.
